Our Story

A Lifelong Thread

This is not a brand story invented in a boardroom. It is one woman's life — told in stitches.

Age 16 · The first stitch

A needle out of necessity

She began stitching clothes and bags to earn for her family — not as a hobby, but as a responsibility. Every finished piece was a small victory. The craft became her silent strength.

The working years

From typist to officer

Her discipline carried her from a typist's desk in a hospital to a government position with the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board — earned through sheer determination, at an executive level.

23 years of service

Labor Welfare Officer, TTPS

She rose to serve as Labor Welfare Officer at Tuticorin Thermal Power Station — one of only five such posts across all the generation plants of Tamil Nadu. A career of service, dedication and quiet excellence.

The return

Home to Theni

After voluntary retirement in Tuticorin, she came back to her hometown of Theni — not to rest, but to return to the passion that had waited patiently for her all those years.

Today

Papa Weaves is born

This time, the thread found new fabric: jute. Natural, honest and strong — just like the hands that work it. Every Papa Weaves bag is designed and stitched by her, one at a time, in small editions. This is her craft, her legacy, and her joy.

"Papa Weaves is everything I have learned, lived and loved — woven into jute, one bag at a time."

What We Believe

Slow making. Honest materials.

We believe a bag can carry more than belongings — it can carry a story worth telling. We do not mass produce. We do not chase trends. We make in small, curated editions, each one stitched with the same care and dedication that defined a lifetime of work.

When you carry a Papa Weaves bag, you carry proof that it is never too late to return to what you love.
